Massage Therapy FAQs
No. At Active Edge Massage & Wellness, you never have to be completely undressed for a massage. We encourage every client to undress to their comfort level. If you prefer to remain clothed, we can provide an effective massage over clothing. We do recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing such as athletic shorts and a T-shirt. Clothing like jeans or restrictive garments can limit movement and make it more difficult to address muscle tension effectively.Your comfort, privacy, and relaxation are always our priority.
Massage therapy should never be unbearable. Some techniques, particularly orthopedic or deep tissue massage, may create temporary discomfort as tight muscles are addressed. However, you should always feel comfortable communicating with your therapist. If the pressure feels too deep or not deep enough, let us know. We will adjust the treatment to your comfort level while still working toward your treatment goals.
Some people experience mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours following a massage, especially after deeper therapeutic work. This is a normal response as your muscles adapt to treatment. To help minimize soreness, we recommend:Drinking plenty of waterTaking a short walk or doing gentle stretchingAvoiding strenuous activity immediately after your sessionProper hydration can help your body recover more comfortably after massage therapy.
Falling asleep during a massage is completely normal—and many clients do!Massage promotes deep relaxation and can help reduce stress and muscle tension. While massage is very restorative, it is not a replacement for a full night's sleep. We recommend using the restroom before your appointment, but if you need to take a break during your session, simply let your therapist know.
