Move Your Body, Clear Your Mind

Exercising is one of the best ways to clear your mind and reconnect with yourself. The good news? It doesn’t have to be intense or vigorous to make a difference. The key is finding something you enjoy. Whether it’s riding a bike, walking, swimming, or lifting weights, movement can be a powerful tool for both your physical and mental health.
If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of helpful workout videos on YouTube. However, working with a personal trainer can be especially beneficial to ensure you’re using proper form and avoiding injury.
Angie Spencer with Champions Recovery Room Physical Therapy in Urbandale is both a physical therapist and personal trainer. She can teach you proper techniques and help you exercise safely and effectively.
With these cooler mornings, I recently headed to the gym and walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes. I was freezing when I walked in, but by the time I left, I felt completely different. Even though it was still cold outside, my body felt warm and energized. When we exercise, our blood circulates much better than when we’re sitting idle. Movement truly wakes up the body.
That said, it’s important to listen to your body. My calves were not thrilled about the treadmill that day. To help, I paired my workout with a NormaTec session at Active Edge. The compression therapy boosted circulation in my legs, helped reduce tightness, and left them feeling significantly better. While the NormaTec supported my physical recovery, the exercise itself helped clear my mind so I could fully focus and accomplish what I needed to in my business.
Key Benefits of NormaTec:
Improved circulation
Post-sport recovery
Relief from restless leg syndrome
Post-surgical recovery (may help reduce risk of blood clots)*
Reduced inflammation
